About me

I grew up on a small family farm in southwest Georgia with a strong influence from my grandparents and family where I learned about living fully off the land.  I now realize that my background influenced my adult life choices.  In my day job, I deploy college campus sustainability initiatives, help clients solve specific sustainability issues, and develop sustainability training, education and tools for my company for over 600 college campuses.  I focus on initiatives that reduce waste, water, energy and I work with communities to create local food systems therefore promoting community economic development and increasing local food purchases.  I donate my time in the Columbus, OH community to help create a more sustainable food system and preserve the Earth.  I might not be the best writer but I think I have some great experiences to share.  The views expressed in this blog are my own and not those of my company.  These are my adventures…

  1. Hello! I just stumbled upon your blog while searching for information on OSU’s High Five program. It’s great to see the work that you’re doing and I’d love to learn more! Is there a report available on the High Five program? I recently gained employment helping UF achieve zero waste!

    1. Hi Taylor, the Sodexo teams created the High Five program to incentivize the nonprofit groups to participate in the collection process of uncontaminated food waste. I don’t have a formal report to share with you but I can tell you that our participation increased about 60% and we attributed the success to the High Five program. If you would like to learn more, please reach out to the OSU Sustainability Coordinator Corey Hawkey. hawkey.13@osu.edu
